Friday Fragments

The boy got an iPod Touch from Santa.  He introduced me to Zed's Alchemy, which he discovered at his dad's over Thanksgiving.  I *may* be addicted.

The Girl Child asked for her first My American Girl Doll.  Did she ask for one that looked like her?

No, she did not!

Instead, as my sister pointed out the day after Christmas, she got the one that looks just like Auntie Evie.  The doll still has no name.  It is quite a dilemma.  The Girl did not like our suggestion that she name it...Auntie Evie!

The children and I went downtown to the children's celebration last Saturday night.  We watched an acorn drop and were home by 8 pm, curled up on the couch watching The Smurfs.  Then I put them to bed and watched The Help.  It was seriously one of the nicest New Year's Eves I've had in a long time.

After the phone fiasco of 2011, only some of my contacts were saved on my SD card.  I got several "Happy New Year" messages and on "I'm changing my number, please call me at _______" from people I haven't talked to since I got my "new" phone in October. I have no idea who they are and of course, was too embarrassed to text back and let them know.  *blushing*

As I was tucking The Girl in Monday night, she sighed and said to me, "Mamma, I need a few more days. I'm not ready to go back."

I couldn't have agreed more!

Speaking of phone fiascos, I have major autocorrect issues.  I'm fairly new to texting... I haven't even had my Droid for a year.  Prior to that I just had a plain old cell phone so texting required hitting the phone pad several times to get to the letter.  Send a text was deliberate and took time, so it had to be important.  Now I try to fire one off like a teenager and it never fails that I don't check and autocorrect has me saying something I didn't mean.

However, I think this exchange, between one of my coworkers and another, while they were trying to arrange a playdate for their boys takes the cake.  Keep in mind that they know each other, but not THAT well:

"Sure, he'd love to, but please let me know what time. I have plans to get high.  It's my first time. I don't how long it will take!"

"I'm assuming you mean highlights???"

"OMG! Highlights, yes hair highlights!!!!"

Happy Friday!

Sounds like a super New Year's celebration. Since becoming a father many years ago, I have never missed my old impression of what New Year's Eve should look like.

Love the doll's name. What a riot. She's a clever kid. And your phone texting...that is something I think we all contend with these days. But still, it's all 'cause of our love of new gadgets. And I'm guilty.

That sounds like a really nice New Year's Eve. I was babysitting this year and was woken up several times by the boys who wouldn't sleep.

That is a very funny auto-correct mistake. That could have really gone wrong. LOL

As long as you do not get the angry Birds addiction, you are okay. Though I found Apps for PacMan and Breakout yesterday...

Oh LOL!! That DOES make a good auto correct fail! Funny! My son received an ipod touch last Christmas and has been attached to it ever since. Boys and their electronic gadgets!

I hope your first time getting high(lights) was everything you'd thought it be and more.

I've stayed away from phone apps because I KNOW I'll get addicted. My girls still have their American Girl Dolls, tucked away now, of course. I'm planning on getting a new phone because I'm on my 3rd Droid 2 of the year and a 2nd battery. As for Swype, I hate it with a passion when it swypes the wrong words! UGH...and I know better, but still forget to check!

I was sad at how fast our Christmas break was over. Only 7 days off.

Happy 2012,

The husband just got a touchscreen phone after being addicted to ones with sliding keyboards, lets just say his texts are pretty darn ridiculous. I also need a few more days. I'm not ready to bustle the kids back and forth to school yet.

I chuckle at that auto correct. My husband sends me messages sometimes and I'm like wth? what did he mean???

That conversation with the coworkers takes the cake!

Hopefully the AG doll will get a name soon.
