PYHO: Valentine Scrooge?

I've never been a huge fan of Valentine's Day... not even when I've had a "Valentine" because I've had more years that not without one and I tend to remember how it felt on the "off " years and I've always contended that I'd rather be in a situation to do small things for a special person all year long than tell them they are special because the calendar says so.

That said, I'm not a total Scrooge.  Okay, I forgot to get a gift for my children this year; I usually do get something small and I forgot to get them Valentine's for their classmates and had to take the ones left in the closet by the teacher who had my classroom before me.  They didn't have candy or an eraser or a pencil to attach to theirs.

I was, however, up until 10 Monday night making pink pancakes for my children  to have in the morning.  I also makde pink heart-shaped cupcakes and cut their sandwiches into heart shapes with mini cutters.  Like I said, not a total Scrooge.

Even still, I just wasn't feeling it.

Then I got to work and the students started coming in.  They brought me chocolate and candy and Valentines....some just an extra of what they brought for their friends, others something they had picked out just for me.  The ones that really got me:  the students I don't even teach, who thought to bring me Valentines just because I am a teacher at their school. ~FTR, I swear I took a picture of the chocolate love to include with the post, but I cannot find it on my phone!

Ya'll, what nerve do I have to complain?

I thought I had no Valentine on a "holiday" I don't even care to celebrate ~other than my own two children~ when I actually have over 30.

Thirty children who think I am the Bee's Knees just because my name is Teacher.

I am well and truly blessed and eating some humble pie this morning!

I was the only Mom at day care that didn't send Valentine's. But really for one and two year olds? What's the point they can't read and he'll just try to eat the paper!

Uhm, so weird... we pretty much wrote the same post. Well, at least about us being Valentine's Day scrooges (though I referred to myself as a grinch). WEIRD!

Anyway, that is sooo stinkin' sweet! And I love that you cut the sandwiches into hearts :) Awwww!

I love how these children turned your day around. Valentine's Day doesn't have to always be about all that romance stuff!
