Friday Fragments: Daddy's Home!

Daddy is home, y'all!  Praise God!  He was discharged earlier this week and seems to be squarely in the category of "dodged a bullet".

Keep him in your prayers, y'all. The doctor told him flat out it was the smoking that caused his heart attack. He's got some other complications that they found while he was there, also the result of the smoking.  He has to stop... no ifs, ands, or buts about it and it's going to be hard for him.

Evie is going to keep my kids next weekend so I can fly down and then she'll go down herself the following weekend. We both just need to see him!

*****

Have y'all tried this stuff?

Pure Heaven!

I had a coupon so I picked some up for around $0.50. HOLY MACKERL!!!  I'm trying to decide if it's better than Nutella...it's creamier and, of course, no hazelnut.

*****

The kids dad went MIA again. He told them he was going to see them over spring break in a few weeks, but hasn't emailed me to confirm. The kids had been bugging me, so even though we hadn't heard from him, I let them call the other night.  His voicemail picked up and LAWD! you should have heard the message my girl left,
"Daddy, we wanted to talk to you because you haven't called in a long time and you haven't emailed Mamma. Why haven't you called Daddy?"

I thought to myself, You go girl!  Stand up for yourself!

The boy's reaction, "Well that was a little awkward!"

I told them both it was okay to be honest with their dad, even if their feelings weren't good feelings, just like they were with me. That it was important that they let him know how they felt as long as they were respectful and she had been!

ETA: He called back within 10 minutes... nothing like a 'talking to' from your almost-8-year-old!

*****

Meanwhile, my kids were outside playing after dinner Wednesday night.  The Boy had to go, but didn't want to stop, so he peed...

Behind a bush

On the playground

AT CHURCH!!!!!

"Nobody saw me," he shrugged.  Well, except for his sister who'd just ratted him out!

I'm glad your kids are standing up to their dad. It's important they know they don't have to be perfect robot kids around him.

The message he's sending is becoming clear to them, and that's too bad, but it's better that than expecting him to be "superdad" when he clearly is not.

I'm really glad your dad is at home. Tell him how much you love him and hopefully he'll decide to work at sticking around.

You know I can relate to the peeing in inappropriate places thing! I think all boys do it. Mostly because they can. It's just so easy for them.

Good for The Girl standing up to him like that. He needed to hear that! Hopefully, hearing that message will knock some sense into him.

So glad your dad is doing better and hope he is able to quit the smoking. I wonder of that E Cig thing would help him?

So proud of the kids for telling their dad the truth about how he makes them feel when he doesn't call! A little guilt is good now and then, in this case.

I can't say anything bad about peeing behind a bush (even if it was at Church). Mostly because I'd love the ability to pee anywhere with ease. :P

Good luck to your dad as he starts this huge life change! Wishing him an easy transition to non-smoker!

I do hope your dad finds the transitions he will need to make in his life to keep himself healthy a gentle one.

I have a friend who is raising 2 girls almost alone. Their dad rarely visits or calls. I was heartbroken for the three year old a few days ago. She drew a picture for me. Of dad, mom and her house. And when my cell rang, she thought it might be her daddy. Why are some people unable to do the right thing? And why do little boys pee behind bushes?????

Way to go to the kids for standing up to their dad. He needs to hear it from them that what he does affects them and it's not you saying those things.

Boys are so gross sometimes! lol. Little E does the same thing, inappropriate peeing in public places. After going camping when he was three I had to have a talk with him about it. It got a little out of hand. :)

Glad that your dd stood up for herself with her dad... the pee behind a bush story reminds me of many times that my brother and his friends were able to just 'go behind a tree' while we were out playing... i was so jealous!

I'm a new visitor to your blog. .....I think it probably did that dad more good for those kids to say something than anything else would have!

Boys! They will not hesitate to pee outside! I have 4 and oh, boy!

Glad your dad is doing o.k.

Glad your dad is home.

Love that the girl didn't hold back with her dad, yet was polite and respectful at the same time.

I think once boys figure out they can pee outside, they will do it just about anywhere. My nephew used to do it in their yard all the time. Boys!

OK, first, good for the girl! Second, thank G-d Daddy is home. I'll keep him and his health in my heart. And third, peeing outside! I'm so glad I have a girl. ;)

Peeing outside has become way too popular at my house.

I think it's awesome your kiddos are speaking their mind. I bet he called back fast! I wanted to try that cream cheesy goodness too, but haven't yet.

WTG to your girl! My niece is pretty straight forward with her Dad too when he does something that's "do as I say, not as do."

I definitely have to try that Philly Indulgence! I like the hazelnut in Nutella, bu6t the cream cheese is bound to be better for you!!
