Friday Fragments: The Eagle Had Landed

In other words, my mother has arrived!

My sister took a half day to pick her up at the airport and after a mere two hours, delivered her to me at school...early...before the end of the school day... SURPRISE!

Guess I'm not the only one who has limits *winks*

This means I'll be a little scarce in blog land until she leaves on Monday. I've got a post scheduled, but it may take me awhile to visit back. Bear with me, I'll catch up.

Thanks to my girl, Andrea, at Good Girl Gone Redneck, I've finally fallen victim to Pinterest. I'm having so much fun! I have no idea to tell you how to find me or how to get a button on my page, so I'll just tell you that my username is SSSingleMOM. Any help on that would be appreciated!

A friend passed the following quote on to me:

“I have noticed even people who claim everything is predestined, and that we can do nothing to change it, look before they cross the road.”
― Stephen Hawking

As a Presbyterian, I find this HYSTERICAL!

Don't get me wrong, I love my denomination... over the years, I've tried others, but I was raised in the Presbyterian Church and it's the Presbyterian service that I am most comfortable with. That said, I was raised Presbyterian because the church was literally less than a block from my house and when my mother wanted to find a new church, she just started going to the closest one. Imagine my shock when I went to join my current church and I found out that Presbyterians believe in predestination!

Who knew??? Not me... and apparently not my mother, because I called her:

"Mom, did you know that Presbyterians believe in predestination?
"We do?"
"Apparently so."
"Well, I guess I missed that part.'

Did I mention that at the time of this conversation she'd been a Presbyterian for over 25 years!

Mommy's Idea

And I apologize... that last one is kind of a whole blog post, rather than a frag!

Hm, I've been absent from blogging for days, but I can't blame my mom! Wish I could!

Find things to enjoy, she does love you!

Ummmmm Have fun???? Can't wait to hear the stories.

And the religion thing is perfect. I think they are a lot of woman of your mother's age who are devoted to their religion, but really don't know a lot about it :)

I have a colleague who is an ardent Calvinist (all is predestined in his world). However, in our crazy traffic traffic, let's hope he looks before crossing the road, too. Good one.

Interesting that you mention both Stephen Hawking and religious beliefs. He upset (some are very very touchy) many people not long ago with writing about the existence of God. BTW I don't buy the destiny thing, but I think you can buy it for about $43 (3.3 oz) on amazon.

That's interesting about Presbyterians. I tend to not pay attention to such details as long as I have the important things in common. So I can understand, not knowing. Have fun with mom!

Hahaha, I am Presby also and one of my favorite things to put up during St. Patty's is "I don't' need luck, I'm Presbyterian" He states it a bit flippantly. Just because God knows what's coming doesn't mean we do. Just because my life is ordered doesn't mean I am free of responsibility.

Ah, mothers ;-) I love my mother and love it when she visits, but we tried to live together when hubby was deployed and that just didn't work out very well. I do hope you enjoy her visit :-)
