Friday Fragments: Leaving on a Jet Plane

Mommy's Idea

As y'all read this, I'm on a plane on my way down to see Daddy.  Evie has my kids for the weekend. I cannot wait to set eyes on him.  He continues his recovery and is doing beautifully, but I just need to SEE him.

*****

I will get to attend a wedding at the Retirement Park tomorrow.  I asked my mother if I should bring something dressy and she said, "Oh no!  The wedding is poolside and the groom is wearing a t-shirt with a tuxedo screen-printed on the front.  It's a second marriage and they are both older, you know...."

You CANNOT make this stuff up.

Suffice it to say, if I get married again, my groom best not be in a t-shirt!

*****

I started my garden one evening this week.  I was outside raking, hoeing and planting and I realized that I was still wearing the pearls that I'd worn to work that day.

Gardening in pearls....

Do you think I might be more than Sorta Southern???

*****

I found this on Pinterest this week. I hope you will excuse the slightly off-color language. It's just so alarmingly approriate for how ...stuck... I've been feeling lately, I couldn't help but share!

You should wear something deliciously tacky to the wedding!

Love that saying. Hysterical and so true!!

Enjoy your weekend and your fancy schmancy wedding!

Stopping by from SITS and glad I did! I'm your newest follower. And you are so right, you just can't make this stuff up. At least you didn't wear your pearls in the swimming pool! My sister did that, and that is awful!
Looking forward to hearing more from you.

You should totally find one of those Richard Simmons skeletal outfits and sport that... with a skirt over top, to dress it up. Gardening in Pearls is so, so suth'in. Safe travels and good health to your family, your dad in particular. Sorry you're missing your race, but there will be others.

We eloped and for our reception later, my husband wore a tuxedo t-shirt with a baseball cap that said "Groom" and I wore a wedding dress bodice t-shirt with a baseball cap with a veil. The reception was at a double header baseball game. (But I never really wanted a wedding - the pricey dress and everyone staring was a frightening thought to me)

Glad you're going to see your Dad - love him a lot and make him behave like the doctor said!

A perfect opportunity to break out the daisy duke shorts with a halter top. Is that not the perfect wedding ensemble?

I've always been fascinated with southern charm being a city girl! Theres something special and lovely about people from the south that we city folk lack.

I'm hoping that you post pictures from the wedding!

Loved the 'hallway'...too funny.

And if you want my opinion...just someday, a dark, tall handsome stranger may walk up behind you with a bottle of bubbly as you toil in your garden...you with your pearls...you're ready!!!

My Friday post is: THE 'F' WORDS

I am so glad you get to go see your dad!! I nearly went mad the month my father had his heart attack, surgery, and the following recovery. I made my family skype with me in the hospital room and still cried.

I love it, gardening in pearls, that is southern, but it's why I love my southern friends. They can class anything up... that's a good thing!

Yea, weddings don't mix with t-shirts. I am with you there. And I totally get your pin, so totally true for those hallways or when the doors/windows just aren't opened at that moment.

Glad you are going to get to see your daddy.

A tuxedo screen-printed tee wearing groom? Nice!

I have forgotten (or just been too lazy) to take my pearls off before changing many times but can't say I've ever gardened in them. You have obviously fully converted. Congratulations!

If I ever got married again (and since I still have hubby, this is totally hypothetical) I'd like to do it as quietly and simply as possible - - - t-shirts would be fine.

Yep - - - I'm OLD so I "get" it.

That wedding sounds tacky to me--I agree with you the groom should dress up more than just wear a t-shirt. I never wore pearls gardening, but then, I seldom wear necklaces anywhere.

Love among older people is soooo sweet! I think it will be a fun wedding!

I wear pearls sometimes, but never when gardening....oh, wait....I don't garden. Unless you count mowing the grass, I do that!

Oh Honey, you may be a late convert to Pinterest (as I've read in your last post) but at least you're there. I fear it!
I'm laughing at your fragments! Although my groom wasn't in a tshirt, he was almost in a tshirt...that's all I'll say :)

LOL Not my kind of wedding wither, but the older I get, the more "eclectic" the weddings seem to get:)

I hope you had/are spending some quality family time there then. Safe travels.

I hope you had a great visit with your dad. And yes, a t-shirt tux is a little... um not enough :)

And gardening in pearls- hilarious!

Gardening with pearls. If you ever have another blog, I think THIS should be your title. Love it :)

And glad you had the chance to see your poppa; I'm sure he loved the visit.

Is it weird that I think a wedding with tuxedo shirts is kinda' cool? Off to crawl back under my rock now...
