Friday Fragments: Debby Does Florida

I've been in Disney World all week, so has Debby...the tropical storm. I wish Debby DID NOT do FL.That said, we made the best of it and had a BLAST! She finally blew out of here Wednesday afternoon.

We started the week at my inlaws.  The children's grandfather gets a HUGE kick out of them.  He told me he had to stay in my good graces at least through The Girl's teenage years so he can watch the show!

I have the best family.  We rearranged our park days a bit because of Debby and I was going to drive three hours to my aunt's house so I could get a full night's sleep before driving home.  They ended up driving up to Orlando and renting a 2-bedroom suite so they could see us AND I wouldn't have to add driving time.

I am blessed.

On the plus side, Tropical Storms keep the temperatures down. They also make me have curly hair.

On the downside, they cause my flip flops, which I wore so I wouldn't ruin my sneakers, dye my feet brown. Then when we sit by the pool I leave little brown puddles all over the white lounge chairs.  It's kind of yucky!

In case you were wondering, in the Rainbows vs Reef flip flop wars, Rainbows win hands down for comfort. I trekked through the park for two days with no problems other than the aforementioned dyed feet.  I tried my reefs for a day and had to arch support. I love my reefs, I just won't be wearing them when I know I"m on my feet all day!

Oh, it's too bad the storms impacted your vacation! But, I am glad you were able to make the best of it. It's hard to gripe about a vacation when you know what folks are dealing with in the aftermath of the storm.

Good for you, and great of your family to help you deal!

Dyed feet? Do they have fabric straps? I'm a Teva flip-flop woman myself. I just get weird tan lines, so I have to switch things around from time to time...

Debby was definitely a downer. Glad you were able to have fun despite it. Have a restful weekend!

I wish Debby would send some of her rain our way!

Glad to hear you were safe and that the flooding didn't affect you. Also, it is nice when family is that considerate.

Sounds like y'all still had a good trip. Glad Debby didn't ruin it for you!

I've never had Rainbows but the Reefs have quite a bit of arch support. Never walked all over Disney World in them though!

Meant to say the Reefs I have! They are the "Miss J-Bay's".

"wish Debby DID NOT do FL" - good one but then I wonder if some younger readers would remember that flick. Did not know of the flip flop wars. Thanks for the warning.

I had the same brown-dyed feet from a rainy Disney day a couple of years ago as well! Mine were brown leather Clarks and it took a few days before my feet looked normal again. On the plus side most everyone else cleared out of the park when the downpour began so we had no lines. My brother even rode Goofy's Barnstormer with the umbrella up through the whole ride!

Ugh, traveling with Debby has to suck. We traveled with Irene in New York last year; NOT FUN. But we made the best of it, altered plans a little and had a great time, just like you did!!

I am happy that you had a good time. Orlando can be brutal with some rain. Of course a storm can be bothersome, but at least it wasn't a hurricane.

We needed the rain, but I know how it is to be in Disney in the fun. But how great that you're able to be friends with your children's grandparents! I'm a step mother and a mother of a divorced son so I know from both ends how important that is!

I'll have to check out the rainbows because I hate wearing closed in shoes all day!

Whoo, I don't think I could handle Disney with just ONE kid and you did it with ALL OF THEM? Yikes.
It sounds like ya'll had a great time. We are hoping to go next year, I look forward to seeing the little one light up when she sees Cinderella's Castle.

Have a great day!

I'm intrigued by the difference in your flipflops. Facebook has been trying to sell me a pair all week that claims to be something special but cost $40. With two pairs for $5 at Old Navy, it's easy to say no. Kendall (and I, each paying 50%) just bought some Keens. I figure they'll likely last her at least give years, and she's taking them to summer camp (for a month). I'm just glad she's finally come to her senses about wearing flipflops everywhere--That can't be good for a girl's feet.

Okay, I've taken up enough space here. Glad you had such a great visit. Thanks for linking up!

I'm glad that Debbie didn't screw your plans up too much and that the family accommodated you. What a sweet bunch they sound like!
