Friday Fragments: Joy and Sadness

I have a new name. You may now call me AUNTIE!  That's right, Evie is pregnant!  13 weeks! I am over the  moon for she and Jack and my kids are SO excited.  Some of you with whom I email know just how special this is!  Prayers and lots of healthy baby dust!

*****

MY BABY SISTER IS HAVING A BABY!!!! I mean she's 33, but still...I sent a message to The Girl's Godfather who is my best guy friend from high school and he said, "Wow! I almost asked how that happened, cause in my mind, Evie will always be 12 and should never be pregnant!" It's not just me!

*****

I have been conquering a home improvement project from with the loot from my trip to IKEA this spring.  It almost caused the death of Lawn Boy and I, but I think we weathered the trauma.  I'll post pics when I'm done!

*****

I ventured over to Lowes to get more supplies after I finally figured out what the heck I was doing... perhaps I shouldn't have gone in a dress and bumble bee sandals, because the employees DID NOT take me seriously!  Yes, I know that a nail punch would be found in the tool section. No buddy, I don't know where "Tool Time" is or I wouldn't be asking!

*****

I'd heard once that Lowes is set up more for women and Home Depot for men... no woman I know designed the set up at Lowe's.  If it were me, nail punches would be by THE NAILS or at least the hammers.  They were not by either!

*****

After commenting on this post over at Buried with Children, I actually did hook up the Roku that's been sitting beside my TV for months.  It was embarrassingly easy and now I can watch NetFlix downstairs. I've already worked my way through Downton Abbey and I need more... I loved it and I'm already through all 7 episodes!

I also ordered a subscription to Southern Living after Monday's post.

I'm feeling very productive! *Pats self on back*

Friends, the news has come down from up North that my Grammy is very ill.  This is probably the beginning of the end. She could be facing a lot of pain and suffering.  My Grammy is hands down, one of the sweetest, kindest, gentlest souls to ever grace this planet and my mother is beside herself at the idea of her suffering.  Your prayers and healing thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

Congrats on being an aunt! "Aunt" is by far my favorite title. AAAAH Downton Abbey! I love that show so much. I can't wait for it to come back. I heard that there's a book about the real-ish Downton Abbey and am thinking I might need to get my hands on it to fill the void. :) Sending healing thoughts toward Grammy's way.

When I was single and had my own condo, I would go to the local Ace Hardware. The guys there definitely had a "little lady" attitude about them. But sometimes it came in handy.

I will pray for your grandma as soon as I hit "publish," but I guess you know I'll add in a bit about acceptance and peace. May you all feel as though you are firmly in His grip during this time.

So excited for your family. New babies make everything so much sweeter.

I am excited to see this DIY project!

Praying your Grammy is surrounded by peace and love during this time.

It's so very hard to know that a loved one will be leaving this earth. Much peace to you.

I discovered Downton Abbey about a year ago, and I devoured it as quickly as I could. Enjoy.

Congrats on your sister's pregnancy!! I can't wait for one of my brothers to have a baby one day!

The punches are a hand tool so they should be with hammers, screwdrivers, and such. Yah, I work at a hardware store...not HD or Lowes. lol

I'm SO sorry to hear about your grandma. Sending prayers your way!

Very sad to hear your grandma is not well. I hope your memories of her stay forever.
Some guys just don't know how to handle women doing things they know how to do. I guess they feel threatened.

Congrats on being an aunt.

I have never heard that about Lowes vs. Home Depot.

Thanks for your comment at Shell's!

Congrats, Auntie!

I, personally, get the best customer service at Home Depot when I'm there without my husband. Just saying.

Sending prayers out to your Grammy.

Visiting from SITS Sharefest. :)

Congratulations on your joyous news, and I am sorry to hear about your grandmother.

I have been meaning to give Downton Abbey a try. I am always looking for shows to watch while I'm on the treadmill.

Visiting from the Saturday Sharefest.

Our local hardware store is so much more customer service based that I go there more and the big box stores less. Plus I figure the local guy is a community member and spending money in the community and community involved.

Good thoughts for your grandma and I'm very envious over your new status as Aunt. I want to be someone's Aunt Louise! Congrats and enjoy.

Congrats on becoming an aunt! We're expecting that we'll hear any day now that one of our siblings is having a baby. And I'll be so excited.

Sending good thoughts for your grandmother.

And yay for hooking up the Roku! We LOVE ours so much, and it is pretty much the easiest device ever.

I'm visiting from SITS.

Now I can publicly say...congrats Auntie!!

I love Lowe's and home improvement stuff but I worked there for over five years so I'm familiar with the layout haha

Congrats on becoming an auntie! That's such wonderful news. Best wishes to your sister and her hubby and I will certainly be keeping them in my thoughts.

And so many thoughts and prayers are being sent out for your grammy. I'm so incredibly sorry to hear this, momma. Watching an older one suffer is always difficult. I have lost all of my grandparents and it pains me to think about the hurt my parents suffered. LOVE and so many good vibes to you all. XOXO
