Friday Fragments: While the Children are at Camp...

I've been diligently working on rearranging now that the home improvement project I worked on last week is finished.  ~ I will post pictures when I am happy with my rearranging~  this spurred me to finally open the last two boxes of knick knacks from our move south....5 years ago!  It was supposed to be just two boxes of collectible figurines, but one box was clearly labeled "with glass".  I found two wine glasses and a martini glass along with wine charms.  I'd forgotten about the glasses, but I'd thought I looked everywhere for those wine charms!

Also in the box was the cake topper from my wedding.  I did keep some things, but they are all together in a box in the back of my attic. It was a shock to discover it in that box, because it certainly wasn't on display with the other items in the box before I moved!

I had something happen earlier in the week and I kept thinking, I need to make that a fragment, but I never did and for the life of me, I CANNOT remember what it was... I feel like it was a really good one, though!

My children are participating in a Mission Camp at church this week.  Yesterday, I helped chaperone as we went downtown to pass out bags of snacks, water and toiletries to the Homeless.  I'm so grateful that my church starts this so young... I hope that giving becomes part of who they are, because for me, its something I have to think about!

It is, however, sometimes hard to tell who needs a bag and who doesn't... there were a few awkward moments when people who were just there relaxing on their lunch hour were approached.  Luckily, most people were very gracious, knowing that they were choosing to relax in the park across the street from the shelter!

Yesterday, I dug out a post from last July as part of Mama Kat's Writer's Workshop. Thought it might be fun to see what I was blogging about on this day a few years back...kind of like how facebook used to do with status updates. Ironically, while I had not yet discovered Mrs 4444, it appears it was destiny!

I absolutely love the idea of a mission camp.

I enjoy rearanging and rehoming items. Freshens up a place and just makes me happy.

I've been doing some painting projects. Not so fun to do but the results are enjoyable.

I agree that it's so important to get kids involved in mission early. It becomes a part of life that way.

your third fragment (the missing one) is the best!
Filling up those found-again wine glasses might make you forget even more.
have a great weekend

I do that all the time....look everywhere for something and find it later in the most unusual place! I still have one or two boxes unpacked from when my husband and I married 16 1/2 years ago! Wow, I'm almost ashamed to say that! If the cake topper was one of the things you packed up and put in the attic, your kids may want it someday. Time is funny and it's also funny what they want as adults!

I think of so many things during the week but don't write them down and on Friday.......they're gone from my mind!

Have a great weekend!

What a GREAT project for the kids to participate in. I love when kids get involved in helping others!

It's always nice to find surprices when you open boxes. I feel better after reading about you still having boxes to open. we moved into our house 2 years ago and there are still boxes in the basement that haven't been opened.

Sounds like you got a lot accomplished this week!

Too funny about fragmenting last year. ;)

And very cool that the kids are doing something like that, I want to do the same with my own. Teach her the importance, ya know?

Awesome that you found some old wine glasses. I keep meaning to pick those up; I go through wine glasses like I go through sunglasses. Everything breaks with me!

I love the idea of Mission Camp. How wonderful you're getting your children started on volunteer efforts so early.

Also, don't you hate it when you lose a great idea for a blog post?? I had the same thing happen to me this week and it's been driving me nuts!

If you keep doing what you are doing then I'm sure it will become second nature to them! Love it!

Oh that would be a little awkward- but at the same time everyone like something free right? So awesome that you do have your kids do that

I don't know who would be happier about those shagging lessons--Elvis or Michael Jackson. lol That looked fun, but some of those guys appeared to have a partner only for show.haha

I hope you still fit in those new clothes you bought two years ago :)

So glad to be checking in tonight--I'm presenting on Wednesday and worked all day on that. The tab to your blog was open all day, so it was time I said hi.

Have fun rearranging knicknacks. You could use that cake topper as a gag gift some time. Get it? GAG gift?! Now I sound like Lisleman!

Have a great week :)
