Friday Fragments: The End of Summer is in Sight

My electronic issues continue.  I have purchased a new computer, but now my old hard drive is unreadable and I cannot transfer the data!

*****

I start back to school a week from today for a week of Teacher Work Days. I'm excited about moving down grades and I know I'll be fine once I get settled, but I DO NOT want to go back to work. I dislike change to the nth degree. It's a good thing I became a teacher, you know, so my whole class changes each year!

Good pick!

*****

This time last year I was guest posting over at Putting the Fun in DysFUNctional!

*****

I am currently on week 2 without my children. Last week they were with my parents and their dad is picking them up today. I miss my babies!

*****

The plus side is that Lawn Boy and I have been spending lots of time together. Although actually with school restarting, that might be a bad thing, because we'll go from all to crazy, stressed, practically nothing over night. I warned him that I turn into a pumpkin each fall!

You made me laugh about the "don't like change" comment (totally relate) versus getting a new classroom of students each year :)

My Mom is a teacher. This year, she saw one of her students.... and that student is a grandmother! And her granddaughter is in my Mom's class. Mom said, "It might be time for me to "retire/retire" (She retired for half a day and returned.) Each year the principal asks Mom to come back another year. Each year my Dad wants Mom to retire...

A break from the kids and then back to school activity plus your own classroom - I'd say that's a big change (if I'm understanding your fragments)
About the hard drive - it could be just the sharing settings on the old computer or is it an external hard drive? If it is very important files like only copies of pictures then you could fork over $$ to a special hard drive recovery company. They can recover data from hard drives that have been in fires.

That is kind of ironic that you dislike change that much and are a teacher. I hated changed as a kid but am pretty used to it now and sometimes almost crave it.

Good luck with school starting. I Hope you have a wonderful class

Bless you for returning to school. Both my husband and sister are retired teachers and were high fiving each other last week about getting to sleep while the school bus went by. The joy of retired teachers---it's enormous!

I've been at school two days now, one for interviews (heartbreaking stuff) and today to start unpacking and setting up. I should have brought a lunch today, I didn't make it past one.

Taking the weekend off, at least from going in...

While I like summer and actually like the heat, I do look forward to fall (pumpkin spice season!) even though I'm not in school this year. (But I want to get back next semester)

But seriously, as much as I love baseball, teachers deserve what those players make or more. They shape one season at a time, you shape the future. If the classes do change every year it means you do your job well! :)

I no longer teach 'cause my school closed and then we moved 7 and a half hours away.

BUT - - - I still remember how I ALWAYS dreaded going back in August, and we actually would have been back in right now.

Once I got there - - - it all came back in a flood and I was fine, but I "hear" you about dreading it from this side of going back.

Public schools are in session now in Central America. They have a long break in December and January. I was a teacher in the US. August? I hated the thought!

I dislike change too, but it's an inevitable part of life, right? Good luck with your new class :)

I miss my kid too when she's over at her dad's. I'm sure you'll have an awesome reunion once your kids get back :)

I know what you mean. I feel as though I didn't really get to enjoy the summer like I usually do, what with all the warm temperatures. But I'm definitely sad it's coming to an end!

Glad to hear you have been enjoying some QT with Lawn Boy and hope you had the happiest reunion with your babies! XOXO
