Friday Fragments: I'm Still Here

I'm still here. I haven't posted since Monday or responded to any of your comments since last week, but I am here! It's just that crazy time of year where I start back to work/school.

In addition to the usual insanity, I was diagnosed with strep and the flu last Saturday.  The flu! In August??? Apparently there is an epidemic.

I was at the beach for the weekend where I was supposed to spend some time with my children, whom I had not seen in two weeks at that point, except their stepmother was in the ER on their vacation and my ex called my parents, who were in route to the beach, in a panic and asked them to meet him. They did ~of course~ so I only got to see my babies for a few hours on Sunday.  This is better than nothing and perhaps, since I was my own little plague, better.  I didn't want them getting sick too.

ETA: She is okay.  Do you know the stinker never called me? I mean I'm glad he put on his big boy pants and solved the problem and I'm sure it was crazy stressful, but HELLO McFly?? it's not my parents' responsibility to tell me there has been a change in plans!  It's yours!  No, I did not tell him this, although I might at some point.

My parents are bringing them back today. I am taking a half day.  I CANNOT wait.  I miss them so much!  As much as I need the break, it messes with my head to be away from them for so long! This is a record.

My classroom is almost ready, but I'm not. I will be... just not yet. Perhaps I will go in for a few hours tomorrow.

In an attempt to make the start of school less crazy, I did two things last week.
1. I stocked my freezer with 6 frozen crockpot meals in addition to picking up a few bags of conveinence foods like ravioli and pot stickers.
2. I set this up in my pantry so my children can mostly assemble their own lunches.

On a happy note, we found out this week that Evie is having a GIRL!  I am SO excited... so much so that I *may* have squealed when the text came through...right after the NEW principal told us how we had to have our cell phones off during meetings and in the classroom. *Whoops*

Evie is such a Tomboy as is The Girl, so I am making it my mission to make this little one as GIRLIE as possible. There are lots of bows... Big Pink Bows  and monograms in her future!

My cat is on a chair scratching... it is shaking the whole table.

On that note...

Have a GREAT Weekend!

Love the school lunch pantry for your kids! Perfect for them to do the lunch duty.

I am a Southern belle relocated north to almost above the M/D line. Hope you are faring well in the South! At least I hope they are showing you appropriate Southern hospitality. My first time here via Friday Fragments.

That pantry is impressive. Wow! I didn't know you had a cat. I love cats, and miss having them, but Mr. Cool is allergic.

Welcome back to school. We have Meet the Teacher this am.

Wishing you a great school year! My boys have been back in for 3 weeks now and while no one is exactly thrilled about it still, we're back in the swing of things!

Good luck getting ready for classes to begin. I understand the mindset is tough to get into. Have fun with the kids too.

I am happy that you get to see your kids, and I am even happier that you WANT to see your kids. Seriously, I have a friend here in H-land who takes wayyyy too many breaks from her young kiddos. One should like the presence of one's children.

Feel better! It's hectic getting ready for school… and to be sick too. How are horrible! Love your OCD organization skills. LOL

I am so sorry you have been sick and yet I'm super impressed by all the things you've done to set yourself and the kids up for success.

Loved what you did in your pantry! Sorry you've had such rough days!

Wow - nice set up in the pantry, looks pretty and prepared!

I hope you start to feel better. I've heard a lot of people getting strep right now too. (covers mouth and nose with hand in fear)

If there's strep, it tends to find me. Yikes!

Congrats to Evie - but I don't recall where she fits into your picture.
Our kids made their own lunches and we didn't even make it that easy for them.

Strep is nasty! Feel better and recover quickly!

I totally understand needing a break but missing the kids too; that was my summers when my nieces were little.

Hope all goes well as you all get ready to return to the school routine!

1. Congrats on the girl! 2. Strep and the FLU? WHAT THE WHA?

c. Hugs to the kiddos and you for making it while apart for so long!

and 4/d ... I miss you!

The flu is not just a winter "sport" - it is no respecter of seasons. ;-)

Uhh strep and the flu. Get better soon!

That must be a strong strain of strep/flu to knock you down when you've been rested. Better now than in the true thick of things.

Take care, better care, of yourself.

I love the organization of the lunches too! No phones on at all? Not even on vibrate? crazy!

Dang, sorry you've been so sick! No good, especially with getting ready for school. And I totally understand why you'd be frustrated with the ex going through your parents. UGH! I hope you had a chance to chat with him!

I hope you feel better soon. So many friends have been getting sick with this bug going around.

Achtung! This is a test of the International World Verification Detection System. In the event of an actual comment, something quite profound and greatly uplifting to all concerned will be left. (LOL?) (Please?)
