Friday Fragments: It Always Seems to Come Back to Football!

The cooler weather had me all curled up under a blanket last weekend...and then I noticed the smell. Said throw has been washed during the Great Headlice Debacle of 2012 and, it would seem, did not get moved to the dryer in a timely-enough fashion.  PU!!!!!

We had a football game for which we had to be at the field by 9 am last Saturday.  Seriously cuts into my lazy morning routine. Not Kosher!  I don't think we should play teams with no lights...not because I'm a snob, but because I want my lazy Saturday morning! This week: pictures at 10 am. These people seriously need to stop!

I was clearing out my answering machine this week. ~yes, I still have an old school answering machine~  Most of the messages were from my ex calling to say goodnight to the children. He is pretty much the only person that calls the house line.  One message started "Hi, it's just me..." both tone of voice and and words different than his usual M.O., but sometimes the children manage to hang up on him when they are talking and he calls right back. Figuring this was the case, I hit delete and then the next message played, "Hi, obviously I called the wrong number..."   AND I'D ERASED SAID MESSAGE WITHOUT LISTENING TO IT!!!!

I can only imagine...

Of course, he never needs to know I didn't listen to it! *evil grin*

We are driving home from football this week and The Girl scolded The Boy, "Why do you always talk like that? You use all these words I don't understand!"

"Recent?" The Boy asked.

"Yes!" said The Girl, "How am I supposed to know what THAT means?!?"

LAWD a Mercy!  In his defense, he did patiently explain with examples. I guess we need to read more to expand our vocabulary.

If you'll excuse me, I have towels that I must go put in the dryer. We know what will happen if I don't! *winks*

I love the discussion between the kids! Too cute.

Hee hee should just dangle the message in conversation sometime and see what happens.

Speaking of smells in laundry - - - I've found that you can get them totally out by doing a "soak" first in vinegar water. The that cycle run all the way through rinse to remove the vinegar, then wash as usual.

I do this with my bath towels EVERY TIME and they smell SO MUCH BETTER.

What is it with towels that they can stink SO bad so easily?

I hate lice. Last night, I woke up with a very itchy scalp. I feared lice as I work with kids who are often infested. I t was just itchy, but it turned into an entire blog post for today. Did I mention I hate lice?

I am amazed you still have an answering machine, I thought those had gone the way of the dinosaur.

I hate it when something doesn't get moved to the dryer soon enough. Ugh! And we're having an early Saturday morning here. My 15-year old son had to be at the school a bit before 8:00am in order to take a practice ACT test. Our mornings get earlier as they get older. Good luck with that!

Happy Sharefest. Have a great weekend.

We still have an answering machine too. I can't get rid of our land line because our cell signals are so bad in my neighborhood. I would have been kicking myself for deleting that message!

And I hear ya on the early Saturday morning stuff! Makes me kinda happy that my boys decided not to play anything this fall.

I lol'd so hard at the lawd a mercy, I'm not sure why. It't so cool to me that you delete the messages, I wouldn't be able to stand it if I had to keep in contact with my ex, but I don't think I could delete a message with out hearing it unless its from my mom (she leaves the exact same message on every phone call) even though I would probably regret it after hearing it.

I agree, games should be played in the afternoon or evenings. Saturdays are for sleeping in! Oh my goodness, I would've died wanting to know the message that was left. Like you though, I would've deleted it because that's what I do anyhow. And I hate when blankets and towels have that stinky smell! =)
