Gearing Up for Fall in Full "Spirits"

I was tooling around the internet on a recent weekend day looking for inspiration so I could stock up on a few blog posts and not need to take another break, you know, since the start back to school has gone so smoothly!

Some of the things I saw had me wistfully remembering my light and fruity summer fun.You may remember when I posted about trying this.  It was a huge hit and yes, I did cut the pineapples into stars when I made it!

This was also a big hit.

Although my friends found the Moscato a little too sweet and preferred it with Pinot Grigio.

And I cannot lie, my good friend Whipped Vodka made many an appearance in various flavors of Crystal Lite.

But an article over at The Daily South got me thinking about what might be on tap now the football season is swinging into full gear. I mean, besides the full case of my favorite Riesling that a certain special someone just ordered for me. *grins*

A little Pumpkin Pie, Spiced Apple or Peppermint, perhaps?

Or, LAWD a' Mercy!, Winter Sangria!!!!

Do tell...

What was your favorite spirit this summer and what will you be drinking this fall?

YUM! I am super impressed with your pineapple stars! I am not a huge drinker, but when it is football season, I find myself wanting a beer in a really cold glass!

pumpkin, spicy apple, - great flavors. Whiskey goes good in hot drinks which are nice on a cold evening. Honestly most of my drinking is limited to my favorite craft beers but I do like to try new ones.

If you make a winter sangria, I must have the recipe. This reminds me a little of a German recipe for gluhwein (sp?) that's made with red wine and spices like cinnamon, nutmeg, etc. and served warm (called mulled wine in the states). It's delicious.

Anyway, yes, recipe please :) And how awesome--Riesling is just the best, isn't it??
