Friday Fragments: Up and Down Week

EtA:  Oh My Word!!! I just came out of my room and guess who was sitting at my dining room table reading my Southern Living?  My mother, that's who!

I don't like it my foot! *grins*

My parents are here this week. My house is a mess and I do mean mess.

My family could use your prayers.  Grammy is fading fast and Daddy is still struggling with anxiety.  My mom, well, her mother is dying and her rock needs her support instead of being able to support her when she needs him most.

On a positive note, Lawn Boy and I both took a day off this week and with my parents offering to take care of my kids, got a rare and much needed entire day to ourselves.

I had a really, really rough day at work one day this week.  One of those days that had me saying that if I had another source of income, I would have walked out the door.  That same day, I had to give a presentation at school that evening, so my parents picked up the kids to shuttle them to their activities.  While out to dinner, a woman approached them and said, "Mr Single Mom in the South's Dad, I'm so happy to see you here.  My daughter was in your daughter's class last year and our whole church has been praying for you."

Not sure how she recognized him... perhaps because she knows who my children are, but Daddy had been having rough day and that left us all feeling humbled and blessed.

Also on a postive note, I brought 4 boys home from school last Friday and had 4 more meet us at the house for the boy's birthday.  I really like my children's friends.  I know this may not always be the case, but they each have a nice group of friends.

Warms a mamma's heart!

I have had a rough week here as well so I feel your pain.

Sending good thoughts your family's way.

I am happy you got to take that day with Lawn Boy - sometimes that is so important. I have a few days off coming up next Friday. I have no plans except painting and cleaning up around the house, but I am super excited!

I'm sorry things have been rough, girl. I'm thinking of you and Daddy and your mom's mom and the whole lotta you. How is your sister, btw? Thinking of her, too.

So sorry about your grammy and your parents dealing with things. I suffer from anxiety so I know how hard it is and I often see how hard it is on my own husband.

I guess it's a good thing every day isn't one of those days or you might be pulling your hair out!

I love that someone came up and told your dad they were praying for him.....what a great benefit of blogging!

It's great when you can really like your children's friends. I hope it's always that way!!!

My work has been rough the past couple weeks so I so can understand. I like you would have walked out if there wasn't the huge orthodontist payment. Scared the ortho would show up at school to repossess them! lol

Your fragments remind me how good it is to have family supporting each other.

What is it exactly about Southern Living and mothers?

I'm so sorry to hear about your Grammy. You and your family are in my thoughts.

I know what you mean about rough days. This year has been a rough year for me. Not because of my class, I have a really great group, but rough just because of all of the 'stuff'. You know meetings, and documenting, and evaluations, etc! It's never ending. Something has got to give the expectations are not developmentally appropriate for the kids.

I'm so glad to hear that your son had a nice birthday and that you enjoy his friends. That's so important and it's such a fine line.

Also, nice to hear that you were able to step away and get some alone time with Lawn Boy :)

Hopefully this week will bring you more ups than downs :)

Sad to hear that you are struggling. I certainly understand that part about your house being a mess...I deal with that one every day!

Sending so many good thoughts and prayers your way, momma. Sounds as though it's a case of "when it rains it pours," with one thing on top of the other for you. I'm glad you were able to enjoy an entire day with the boy though. Enjoy those moments whenever you can. And I'm not surprised to hear your kids have good friends--they are a wonderful reflection of their mommy :)
