Friday Fragments: I'm an Auntie!

That's right!!!  My sister Evie had a baby girl this week. I am over the moon. I just didn't know it was possible to love a baby that you didn't give birth to this much!  I will try to post a pic next week, because I figure infants are unidentifiable enough that I won't give myself away.

I have a feeling I am going to be a totally obnoxious aunt!

Speaking of new moms, lets talk clothing styles... I stayed to watch The Girl's gymnastics class this week and there is a Mommy and Me class at the same time.  What is it with clothing styles on mom's of late?? The pant styles are just so LOW and unforgiving... I feel like when I was a young mom carrying baby weight the clothes were a little more...flattering.  Every single mom, I mean EVERY.SINGLE. ONE. save for the one in running pants had to readjust EVERY TIME she got off the floor... tug her shirt down, pull her pants up, even the one in yoga pants, lest she expose herself to the audience. Even the cute thin one... you know that one... there is one in every class, who gets her figure back right away....even her. There has to be some kind of in between for us moms where we can be comfy, but aren't frumpy and don't look like our clothes are too small!

*****

I totally was the cool mom this week.  The Girl was Student of the Week this week and as such, I had to write a letter to her class telling all about her.  In it, I included a paragraph about her love of her family along with the sentence, "and The Girl doesn't know it (well, she does now) but here grandparents are on their way into town today!"

The Girl popped into my room on her way to elective and said, "Mamma! Mrs Smith said..." and my parents were there by dismissal!

It snowed Below the Mason Dixon Line last night. Then it rained. Nonetheless, we have a two-hour delay this morning... and no school Monday... and a workday on Tuesday. SQUEEE!!!!!

I should (and did throughout the week) have many more things to frag about, but I have baby on the brain.

Forgive me?

Congrats to you and Evie. I hope you enjoy the time off from work--we had a snow day on WED here.

Congrats on your "auntness"! We had the opposite: rain and then snow. We were out of school for 2 days because of flooding, and then today because of ice/snow. The only bad thing about short weeks is that it makes regular weeks seem soooo long!

So exciting! Congratulations! I became an aunt when I was 13 years old since I have a much older brother. I am now the aunt of five nieces. My brothers had girls and I had the boys.

Our rain finally turned to snow last night and we were supposed to be on a three hour delay but they called a 7:30 and said it was cancelled although there is only about an inch on the ground. I guess the roads were icy.

My cousin had a baby girl a couple weeks ago. Seriously, I already bought her a baby shower gift in November, but the store racks and websites full of baby clothes keep calling my name...

My husband tells me all the time about what some of the moms wear when picking up their elementary age kids. He's a bus driver so he sees it all. I didn't realize they let people wear some of that stuff in public.

Congratulations, Auntie!!

There's nothing more awesome than a new baby to love on, is there? Most especially when it's not going to be YOU getting up every two hours all night long. ;-)

It was supposed to snow yesterday and today. Didn't happen. Hooray to being the awesome mom!! How fun that your parents were there as soon as school was over. Clothing has definitely changed since our kids were babies! I've had baby brain occasionally and have been quickly told that I need to NOT have baby brain. lol

Yay, a niece!!! Oh I love being and Aunt. I told my sis I was just so glad someone else was popping out a baby besides me ;-) I hope you are good and obnoxious to that little girl, bwahahahaha.

I know all about wanting to frag more. Why does the brain act like a sieve at times???? Have fun on your days off!!!

Being an aunt is the best thing EVER!! You love them to pieces but you don't have to discipline them. FANTASTIC.

Of course you're forgiven! New babies are so exciting! Can't wait to see pictures :) wow. So that's really happening with new moms?? Comfort first! Plus, how annoying is it to constantly adjust?

Congratulations on being an aunt!! I was really taken a back by the instant love I had for my first niece and the many that have followed. They always make me feel like the coolest aunt ever too...
Have fun with her!
I am going to surprise my soon to be 13-year-old granddaughter at her school next week for her birthday. I am bringing the cutest cupcakes...
Have a blessed weekend!

Well, I have a baby in the belly so I REALLY understand :) Can't wait to see the beautiful baby pictures :)

And yeah, some of the fashion statements these days just don't do a woman's body good. Everyone wants to do a trend, but most likely it's only the models who can take it on. I'm more old fashioned :) However, maternity stuff does fit a little on the odd side too.

I wonder if the clothes used to fit better, but after a baby things fit differently. For me post baby my clothes were too big on me, and I had a hard time keeping my pants up, but many have a few extra pounds that make clothing difficult.
