Friday Fragments: Last Week

1 day... Monday is the last day of school.

Yes, I think it's completely ludicrous that everyone has to go in for one day.  The lawmakers in our state have dictated that school must start on August 25 and end on June 10 unless it's a weekend, so to school on Monday we go.

There was an ecard going around about lawmakers who make education policy... I couldn't find it to post here.

*****

Crazy busy week. My mom is heading back up north this weekend. She is ready to go because she missed Daddy and my grandfather, but we've been spending lots of time with her in anticipation of her leaving.

*****

Baby B is going through a major sleep regression, so I'm glad my sister will be off for the summer and can hopefully relax or at least not have to work the next day if the baby is up all night!

*****

Would you kindly send prayers this way for someone special facing a life altering change this week?  Everyone is and will be okay, but I don't think that any of the parties involved realize how much of an effect the change is going to have.

*****

I'm cataloging and leveling some of the books in my classroom and I about fell out when I came across the following in a shrink-wrapped book pack that I've had for a few years and hadn't opened:

You think it's fate???

 *****

It's been quiet around these blog parts lately. I know everyone else is busy just like me, so I'm trying not to take it personally, but as you may have noticed from this post and this post, I *may* be feeling ever so slightly sensitive lately. *sheepish shrug*

I think the last day of school has forever been a ridiculous thing so I can't really blame it on lawmakers today. When I was in school (ages and ages ago) we only went in for 1.5 hours on the last day (and the last day was whenever it happened to fall) so I guess I will be happy with a whole half day of school for my children. Enjoy your summer.

Your poor sister. Babies not sleeping at night (not to throw shade at stay at home moms, but especially when you have to get up and work outside the home) is one of the hardest things ever. I hope your sister and the baby can get some rest.

Hahahaha, my son loves reading Paulson books! Will have to look that one up. I have always wondered how your friend got named Lawn Boy....

I will be praying for your friend. Is there any way they could have side stepped these life changes?

Yea, my blog has been pretty quiet also, but with family in town, I wasn't on the computer at all. That explains my absence :-) I was enjoying your single series. How did it go?

I"m back from Toronto. What a funny coincidence on the book.

Happy last day of school...Monday.

I'm totally with you on the whole 'have to go in for one day' mode - Princess Nagger had to go in for two whopping hours this past Monday to finish out the school year (to make sure they got in the specific number of hours as mandated by the state). But at least the kids got to have a chance for their final goodbye's. :)

Here's hoping Baby B manages to let your sister get some sleep this summer!

Prayers coming your way for sure! ((HUGZ!!))

That book totally cracked me up! Definitely fate! :)

I've noticed a decline, too - don't take it personally, I think people get crazy busy for end of school things, then get out of practice (and stay away from their computers more often) during the summer months. I myself will be pulling back a bit, since I have a 3 storied house with 8+ rooms plus a basement, Summer House and shed to pack before we move in August. I've been procrastinating, and really need to not do that if I don't want to get all stressed with the last minute frantic packing come moving time. ;)

One day of school on Monday is so ridiculous!! However - we go until June 27th!!! We start back on the MOnday after Labour day - but I feel like we are in school for half of summer:(

When I was in school, it ALWAYS ended on Friday and started on Monday. I don't like that change.
The Lawn Boy books - that is CRAZY cool!!!

That's pretty silly to come in to school for one day only. What gives??

Absolutely sending prayers your way (and to the family in need).

OMG!!! Fate indeed. That's awesome! So good to be here again. I am afraid I have been guilty of missing out on my favorite blogs. I've really missed you and yours. XOXO

Sending all of my prayers to that family in need! And I don't get the one day thing either! Here, school ends on a Monday as well and it's just a half day at that!

I don't know how law makers come up with their ideas sometimes. We just had to go to school for "x" number of days. I'm glad to be past the non-sleeping baby days! So thankful your mom has been around to help. Prayers are definitely going up for the situation!
