In recent weeks, my children have been somewhat redeemed, because Lawn Boy's children... well, their taste in TV is even worse!
My sister and I were lamenting over this recently. She and Sweet Baby B has come over to watch his children so I could go get mine from the airport. I got the first "flight delayed" call after she arrived, so we were sitting at the table with more time than expected to chat. LB's kids, having weathered sitting through a doctor's appointment with me that morning, played outside and done their reading, were settled in front of the TV in their after lunch coma.
They were finishing up watching Horrid Henry: The Movie for the second time. The first time, they had picked it out from Red Box, because his oldest had read the books. He was so excited. I, blissfully, left for yoga 30 minutes in. Imagine their delight when they found it for FREE on NetFlix and could watch it again! It finished up as they Evie and I were chatting and they switched to Power Rangers. Evie lamented that of all the TV shows for kids, this was the one she least cared for. She said she could stomach most Disney shows, but NOT the Power Rangers.
For my part, I prefer Disney to the shows and cartoons on Nickelodeon. I don't do Sponge Bob or Fairly Odd Parents~ also favorites of LB's kids.~ Evie and I both agree that the Disney Movie is not what it used to be. Teen Beach Movie ~ which I've already watched no less then 3 times in bits and pieces between LB's daughter and The Girl~ is no Johnny Tsunami!
Later that night, when we were finally heading back home after a HORRIDLY *wink wink* long day of delayed flights, Lawn Boy called to check in. We chatted while The Saddle Club played in the background. Not a totally awful choice in kids shows except that The Girl insists on watching them EVERY TIME we travel and I can now recite every episode word for word. Guess what Lawn Boy's kids wanted to watch with their dad while they tried to wait for us to get home???
He said no! *grins*
What do you think are the best and worst shows your children watch?
