Friday Fragments: On Account of the Thunder

One clap of thunder and football practice was cancelled an hour early and look who had time to whip up a blog post!

I was probably far too excited over getting to leave the field early than was appropriate!

Speaking of football, it really gets my goat when referees don't call penalties on a team because the team is losing. If players are not called out for illegal and unsafe tackles at this level, when will they learn?

I have been following Lyn-Genet Recitas' The Plan and I've had good success. I lost 11.5 pounds in the first 14 days and have since become a little more of a 'realist," falling off the wagon last weekend and last night. I do gain weight back, but it comes right off when I go back on the plan and eventually I'll know exactly what I can and can't eat. Right now I'm hovering around 9 pounds lost. My clothes fit again. Thank goodness!

I'm supposed to be running a 5K tonight in the dark.  This will be my second one. I ran steadily all summer, but haven't run in about 3 weeks. This should be interesting!

I thought about typing up a post for Wednesday. I usually post a remembrance, but this year I found myself feeling like for me, having been so physically close to the tragedy, but not losing anyone, that I needed to leave the sharing to those who had loved ones to remember.  That said, I certainly have not forgotten and dressed proudly in red, white, and blue, accented by my flag pin, for the day.

11.5 pounds in two weeks? Wow. Way to go! I haven't heard of The Plan. May have to check this out.

Congrats on the pounds lost. That's a lot to lose. And then the 5k? I am jealous. Seriously I am happy for you.

A night time run? Never heard of that :) Cool and good luck!

Congrats on the weight loss. I haven't heard of that type of plan, now I'll have to go look it up!

lol I totally get being a bit overhappy with football being canceled early. hahahaha I think it's ridiculous when refs don't follow the rules no matter what the reason. ugh

I haven't heard of the Plan before, but good for you for sticking to it for the most part! I hope your run went well! I just don't have the endurance for running although I bet it would be so healthy for me. I bet a color run would be cool. =)

I had 9/11 on my mind this week but would not blog about it for the same reason as you. Physically i was close, but had no personal trauma of my own. I did not want a post of mine overshadowing someone who had real losses that day. And I knew many.

I fell off the wagon yesterday. Just had to have some mini-chocolate donuts. My own fault for having them in the house. I"m going to look into your Plan.

I'm going to look at that diet.....haven't heard of it but that's a lot of weight in a short amount of time.

If you haven't seen the movie Parental Guidance, watch it! It says a lot about the sports stuff with kids and I loved I and totally agree!!

That's incredible that you ran a 5k and that you are fitting in your clothes again--what a great feeling! As I mentioned in my previous comment, that was kind of the defining moment for me: when I realized that my jeans were all too tight. But slowly and steadily I'll get there, too.

XOXO and best of luck to you momma!
