All She Wants For Christmas Is...

"One of those plants that closes when you touch it!"

"You want a Venus Fly Trap for Christmas?" I asked

We were in the car, coming home from exchanging my children with their dad and they had had a VERY.LONG.DAY, so I was trying to discuss topics that would excite them, so I'd asked what they were planning on putting on their Christmas Lists.  After a very long pause, THIS is what The Girls Comes up with!?!?

"That's not what it's called, Mamma! Isha has one. It's just a plant that closes when you touch it, but it won't hurt you because it only eats water."

"Yes, Swee" Pea, that's Venus Fly Trap. They call it that because it catches flies and eats them."

"Well, Isha is a vegetarian, so she taught hers not to eat meat. It only gets water," she pauses, "But that might be okay, Mamma. I can keep it in my room during at night, but then bring it down during the day and it can catch the flies that get into the house when the door is open!"

That's what my child wants for Christmas is:

A Venus Fly Trap!

Mama’s Losin’ It

5.) Something your child did or said this week that made you smile.

Ha! Dracen just got one at Lowe's last week. I think it's his third one. Maybe this one will survive...maybe.

I need about a dozen of them in this house currently. Our wacked out weather has them everywhere like it is summer again. They are driving me INSANE...

Your daughter is awesome. I had a strange fascination with those plants when I was younger, too… but I don't think I ever asked for one for Christmas. She's adorable!

Sometimes the things they want just are too funny!

Hope she gets one! :)

(Have to admit, I had one as a kid....)

I wanted one too when I was a kid! I guess there is nothing more fascinating than a moving plant!

I can't believe so many people had one as a kid. I never even considered a Venus Flytrap. I love that it is #1 on her list. I can't wait to find out if she gets it!!

OMG! My son wanted one, too, when he was around that age. Actually, he was fascinated by them for years. I used to get them at Home Depot.

Ha! That sounds like an awesome gift. I bet my boys would love one of those, too.

A few years ago my youngest, probably 8 at the time, BEGGED for a chia pet for Christmas! And of course she got one. Those strange requests are hilarious!

I am amazed, too, that people actually buy them. I thought they were perhaps only able to survive in the wild. Wow.
