The Year Starts Out with a Bang... Again!

I find myself with an unexpected day off. We are battening down the hatches Below the Mason Dixon Line, because snow is coming.

There is no snow yet, but school is cancelled anyway.  Go ahead and laugh my northern friends, that's just how they roll down here!

I've stocked up on bread, milk and eggs, because we do that down here as well... oh, and sweetened condensed milk to make snow cream... a thing I never did up north, but is all the rage down here when it snows.

Anywho, I thought I best fire up the computer and let y'all know we were alive!

2014 started off with a bang!  Lawn Boy was in a car accident on this way to work a few weeks back. You may recall that this is not the first time I've rung in the New Year in this manner. Fortunately he was okay, but a one-car accident on a quiet road, knock on the head, and dead cell phone meant it took us awhile to find him.

He was promptly fired upon returning to work the next day. YES, you read that right.  Long story, but lets just say, it's probably going to be a blessing that he's no longer working for a company who thinks that a car accident is erratic behavior and bad for their image.

In the meantime, having a house husband...err domestic engineer... is kind of nice! Although he has needed a little training.

Sweet Baby B has turned one! I had the pleasure of watching her this past weekend while Jack and Evie went out for Jack's birthday. She's such a love!

We've set a wedding date and I need to get going on that new blog!

A little more change on the horizon than anticipated, but not all bad.

Yikes I am glad he was okay, but seriously they fired him for a wreck? How is a wreck sign of being erratic and displaying a bad image??

Seriously? Fired for being in a car wreck. That is just putting bad karma out into the world. Glad to hear everyone is ok..
Oh, and stay warm...I won't begin to tell you how much snow we have up here!

I'm so glad he's ok! And, any company that fires him for a car accident doesn't sound like the kind of company he needs to be working for, anyway. I'll say a prayer for him to find a great new job.

Oh my gosh! Thank God Lawn boy is OK! And shame on his company. Really! I hope the work situation irons out and I can't wait for the new blog!

Sorry to hear about your guy's accident and unfortunate job change. But, those things have a way of working out for the best.

And, even up here in the NE, it has been one cold weather school delay after another. Unfortunately, a 2 hour delay does not help kids much waiting for a school bus--it is 1 degree at 7:30 am or 5 degrees at 9:30 am. Cold is cold.

What a bunch of craziness! But I love your positive attitude about it all. Hope things only get better from here!

I feel like only in the South can an accident be construed as a bad image on a company. your cousin's best friend's sister's dog getting caught by the dog catcher is bad for someone's image and will get them put on the prayer list, most definitely.

Wait, what? Fired? Are you kidding me? Is he okay?

And how could baby B be ONE already? That's crazy!

Hope you're enjoying the latest snow day. Missing you!!

Oh my gosh, that's just criminal that they fired him! I would have been a nervous wreck.... my husband was in a car accident on some "way out back" street... if it hadn't been for a someone who saw the accident, it might have taken forever to get the help he needed....

I'm glad he is OK and that he's helping around the house :)

I'm glad LB is okay!

Did you get much snow this week? We had a few inches but there were 2 inches of snow under it- that didn't go away for 4 days, so our roads were totally un-drivable.

I want wedding details. :)

I'm utterly amazed at winter here. I feel like it's still fall with the winters we're used to. I can't even imagine how Lawn Boy is doing with the accident and losing his job. Just so preposterous! Hey, you could get LB to start blogging and then you could make an awesome team! He could go to things like #dad2summit and such. heh heh heh How in the world is Baby B a year old? Goes so fast! Very excited you guys have set a wedding date! I have no doubt this is a busy time for you!

I'm so very sorry to hear about LB's accident :( That's awful. And what a crappy company he worked for. This is a blessing, I think. But ugh, that's just wrong on so many levels!

I understand that things shut down in the south for the snow, and I think it's just because you are not as equipped to dealing with all that snow/ice. Sadly, I think we have the system down pat, but even this winter has left us befuddled. And we're experiencing a salt shortage, so that's fun :)

What is this snow/cream creation you speak of??
