Friday Fragments: It's Been Awhile

Good grief! It's been so long since I've fragged that I fear y'all might not remember me!

We are buried under snow, freezing rain and now more snow in the south again, so I'm taking a little time to blog.  We've missed so many days this year that at this rate, we'll be in school until July!

I had to send The Boy out with bags tied around his feet. As a northerner born and bred, I've always prided myself in making sure my children had cold weather clothes, but somehow, this year, I missed boots. They've got parkas, snow pants, gloves, hats, etc, but NO BOOTS!

The Girl is feeling a little stir crazy.  She just didn't understand why we couldn't go out shopping yesterday. When I explained that the roads were too treacherous, she pointed to the TV, on which the news was showing people pushing their cars up the road and proclaimed, "If we get stuck, we can just do what they're doing!"

Right, kiddo, I'm sure you'd volunteer to steer while the rest of us pushed!

I contributed to their history of the United States during the snowstorm by watching the movie Miracle with them. I cry at the end every time, but it's a great way to get into the Olympic Spirit!

The Boy was sick earlier this week with some mysterious virus that had him nauseous and achy. His flu test was negative and he is finally up and about after four days, but The Girl was quite indignant about him getting to stay home from school, whining that I always made her go when she was sick.

She continues to look a pictures of mansions and add to her list of things she'd like in our "next house."  After a recent birthday party, she has added a disco ball in the basement to the list which already includes an elevator and her own private suite. Spoiled much?

Here's hoping you are all well. I've missed y'all.  Happy Valentine's Day! Fortunately I grabbed small gifts for the kids last weekend when I left Lawn Boy at the curb of Target while I ran in to get a gift card.  Twenty minutes later, I finally emerged after seeing all the hearts and flowers and realizing that if I didn't get it now I'd be running out late Thursday night in a panic. There was no going anywhere last night, so I'm glad I made him wait!

2 of my 3 boys had to wear socks on their hands instead of gloves b/c I failed at having snow gear. I didn't even learn my lesson after our first snow storm and try to go get some... I figured we were done with snow.

I bought a coat 3 years ago and it is finally cold enough to wear it. The boots are 2 years old. May need to buy new ones after this season.

We put socks on our kids hands as gloves we were not prepared for cold weather at all

Amazing how the girl watching the same news report with you saw a completely different situation than you. Maybe that disco ball is spinning in her head.

I can understand how winter gear in the south would be lacking for most.

You know what is so funny I live in Massachusetts, but I don't even buy winter coats for my older two. They do not wear coats ever! If I am lucky I can convince them to wear their North Face jacket, but usually they go to school in sweatshirts. And they never wear gloves or hats!

Luckily I was also prepped for Valentine's Day ahead of time which never happens!

Fingers crossed the weather gets better for you all. We have 4-8 more inches coming tomorrow night!

I remember wearing bread bags on my feet, but inside of boots, when I was kid to keep my feet dry. Must have been a little slippery for your son! A disco ball sounds lovely...

Can I just say, I wish we were buried under snow? The snow we had a couple of days ago is nearly melted away, but we've ended up with 2 days off this week! Like you we'll end up with the kids in school until July. I'm hoping they'll take out some of the spring break they have scheduled.

I've never seen the movie Miracle! Can you believe it? I've been trying to watch some of the Olympics!

Happy Valentine's Day!

This has definitely been a winter. PS. I still didn't fix my no reply blogger...just been busy..totally forgot it until I got over to your blog. When I find some time, I'll have to google again. I don't understand why it keeps going back on its own.

Missed you girl! And what's with all the ice down here? I didn't sign on for this, y'all! And yes, I can identify with your stir crazy.

I love "Miracle"! I remember listening to the match live on the radio and screaming along with the announcers.
Good luck with the snow and maybe the money you "saved" with the boots can be applied to that mansion -- haha!
Happy FF!

It's been the worst winter of all time, hasn't it? I'm so sorry to hear that you are dealing with this, too, and hope it comes to an end soon!!!

Happy belated Valentine's Day! Hope you had a good one, momma :)

Also, I've never seen "Miracle." Must add to the list !

Welcome to winter in the south! I was just remarking to LB that if I ever move north again, I must live slope side, because snow is always welcome when you can bang a few runs at the end of the day!
