About

Will I retain my Northern Roots or become a Southern Belle?

Only time will tell...

Welcome to Single Mom in the South, where:

A Single Mom from Points North Starts Over Below the Mason Dixon Line

Three weeks shy of turning 30, I found myself divorced... a single mom with two very young kids... let's just say that's NOT where I thought I'd be at the time.  Looking for a fresh start, I relocated 600 miles away from most of my family and friends.

Here, I share with you, I mean y'all, how I muddle through life, trying to be the mom and person I want to be, while working, running a household, and raising two children entirely on my own... in the south... far away from my previous support system.

See how one single mom gets it done...the short-cuts, the special "mommy" moments, the support from family and friends, and all of the laughter, sadness, frustration, faith and love that goes with it.

Welcome to the inside of my head...I hope you y'all are ready for the ride!

Hi! I'm visiting from SITS.
You are very brave to move away from family & friends during your divorce.
Your artwork is very cute.

I'm totally loving this.. I think part of it is because I lived in Michigan and continued to say ya'll to everyones irritation.

Definitely grabbing a button!!

I think this captures your personality and purpose well.

I agree with another commenter. You were very brave moving away at such a difficult time. I understand that sometimes the time is just right and what you have to do is tough. It sounds like you listened to your heart or instincts and trusted your own judgment. Good for you. I hope it's all working out wonderfully.

What a great About Me page! Short, sweet and to the point, ya'll! It's refreshing, too - not negative or downer, whiney or unhappy - it's so positive and I think that speaks highly of you!

I don't have your typical "mommy" blog--that's for sure! But I certainly empathize with the whole finding-yourself-unexpectedly-divorced-with-kids(in my case only one!)...

I stole your blog button, because in the twenty minutes I've taken to read your blog, I find myself totally in love with you! And now I plan to stalk the archives in a non-creepy way!

I am so glad I found your blog through SITS. Love your heartfelt candid posts. I am not a mum but I have always yearned to have kids. I'm in my 40's now and feel too old Guess life does not always work out the way we thought it would.

Just found you through SITS, but I wanted to tell you that I love the premise of your blog. I've been the single mom of divorce before. And welcome to the South. Y'all will love it. :)

Hi,

I'm a divorced mom blogger also. I just saw a link to your blog on Parenting by Dummies. Your blog looks really cool so I'm grabbing a button. Would love for you to follow me as well.
